Living History Vereniging (Association) 'Screaming Ducks'
The Screaming Ducks go back to the 1990's. Way before the mainstream re-discovered the 101st.
Based on friendship the Screaming Ducks later became an official registrated Association.
On April 17th 2003 the Living History Vereniging 'Screaming Ducks' was founded in Arnhem.
It is never about us, always about the heritage of freedom, and the spirit of a Generation.
Hans, Sybren, Richard, Roel and Jan Jaap go way back, they are the foundation the Screaming
Ducks are built on. With Donald, Michel, Marcel, Joost and Ap the Association Kicked Off !
Since then we have welcomed Paul, Ronald, Michiel, Robert, Cees and Dennis to the Ducks.
A Band of Friends ready to show and tell the world about Them who fought for our Liberty !
The name Screaming Ducks was chosen because of the 'slang' name for the 502nd, dating back to
WW2, the Five-O-Deuce or Five-O-Ducks (source: Rendezvous with Destiny). Screaming Ducks !!!
Often accompanied by Janet, Agnieszka, and Angelica, the Ducks travel to Events all
over Europe; from Eindhoven to Bastogne, Normandy or Arnhem, Keeping them Wheels Rolling !

We are dedicated to preserving and using Military Vehicles, Uniforms and Gear from World War Two,
as well as Research in - and Commemoration of - the men who risked their lives for global freedom.
We attend and organize Historical Tours and Living History Events and participate actively in the
contacts with WW2 veterans. The 101st Airborne Division is our main area of interrest. We have
adopted graves of Paratroopers on Civil and Military Cemeteries and attend WW2 commemorations.
Static Shows, Rolling trough the bocages or across wide beaches: The Roar of Living History !!
Our choice is Living History, not Re-enactment. You won't see us running around shooting blanks
in fantasy fights. We have chosen the road of information and education; serving the veterans and
their families, trying to pass on some of our knowledge to the future generations ! Living History !
We try to display Living History as realistic as possible. We won't go as far as using Pliofilm
(because in the WW2-era plastic as we know it wasn't invented yet), but we try to honor the men
that jumped into our country with a fitting Historical tribute. They will not be forgotten !
In 2003 and 2004 we have also focussed on Educational Events, such as i.e. our Kids Days...
We even have a complete Scrapbook-section for the Kids (in Dutch), the unique Kids Corner
Some of our 'Junior-Ducks' are growing fast, like Kaghleigh, Melanie, Pim, Lamis and Mick, The Next Generation...
We toured with lots of veterans including the 101st Airborne Association. Thats what it is about !
We are an Association, always on the move, with a free spirit, who do love to share their
love for the recent history. There is always time for a chat, or a moment to take a picture !
History isn't ours to keep, we are preserving it for all interrested ! Come and see us !!
Next to the familiar Display of A-Co 502nd PIR we also have a Tank Destroyer Team with armored
vehicles like the M8, the Scout Car and a rare Halftrack armed with mounted mortar. Heavy Metal !
Dedicated to all 101st Airborne outfits, pictures, original documents
and historical locations are frequented, and contacts with scores of vets, families and 101st
friends are maintained with delight. Free reports are published on this Website.
The Screaming Ducks are specialised in complete WW2 US Paratrooper Display. Vehicles, Campsites,
and Gear. Many of our Friends come and visit us at such occasions as our anual 'Family Day'.
We hope to see you on the Road, somewhere in Europe or during one of our displays ! KICK OFF !!
...NEVER diss or click the Duck, and wear the Shirt with Pride...
Our mascotte is Able, a fierce combat Duck in the tradition of Abe, The American Eagle
who became the first official mascotte of the 101st Airborne Division, way back in 1942.
Able also refers to Able (A) Company, of the 502st Parachute Infantry Regiment: our Boys !
